I didn’t think I’d enjoy taking photos of wildlife. Actually, I really only thought of birds when people mentioned wildlife photography. But in 2022 we were on holiday in Devon, near Haytor, which is a granite mass over 280 million years old. We climbed up to the rock on several occasions, but on one visit as I was standing at the top I noticed some horses in the field below. I raced down and started taking photos. It wasn’t until we were back at the hotel that I realised how much I’d enjoyed that experience. I think it was the thrill of the chase, and the technical challenge of capturing a moving living being. Anyway, suffice to say that I’m now taking many more wildlife photos and it’s become my primary area of interest.
